Red Alert Patch Version 1.08PE
Note for Windows XP Users: If you are having problems with Red Alert under Windows XP you should download this patch. The fix originally available for download from CNCNZ.com was not correct. It made Red Alert run under Windows XP but it disabled LAN play. The 1.08PE patch below solves all compatibility issues and LAN play is still available. You must still set the compatibility option in Windows XP for your Red Alert shortcut to Windows 95 or Windows 98 mode though.
The Red Alert patch version 1.08PE addresses the following issues:
- 1. It resolves lockup problems when tallying your points at the end of a mission.
- 2. It enables difficulty selection in Counterstrike missions.
- 3. It enables advanced modem selection dialog in Red Alert.
- 4. Improves multiplay as well as adds the ability to save network or modem games.

However, if you are planning on playing Red Alert over WCHAT, then you need to get the update to version 1.08 from WCHAT.
When you join the Red Alert channel on WCHAT, you should be prompted to get the auto-update. Make sure that you shut the game off before accepting the patch.
