Game Modes
Renegade features two fantastic game modes, here you will find an overview of both the single player game and the multiplayer mode known as "Command & Conquer Mode".

Missions (Single Player)
In the single player game you assume the role of Havoc, an elite GDI commando who fights and explores from a first or third-person viewpoint. Battling through exotic indoor and outdoor environments, you're free to use both brute force and stealth in your mission objectives against the evil Brotherhood of Nod. The game unfolds in a movie style presentation during the mission at hand and in between missions.

Every mission is different, on some missions you will require some heave firepower to achieve your objective while in other missions stealth will be only way through.

As you progress you will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with everything in the C&C universe, fire all the weapons like the Tiberium Rifle, place an Ion Beacon to wipe out a Nod base. Drive the huge Mammoth tank over some Nod troopers. If it was the original C&C RTS game you will find in Renegade!

Command & Conquer Mode (Multiplayer)
In C&C mode, two teams, the Brotherhood of Nod and the Global Defense Initiative (GDI) try and destroy each other's base, just like in the RTS game.
Teams can win in one of three ways:
  • More points than enemy at end of game (harvesting, kills, damage)
  • Destroying all enemy buildings
  • Placing beacon (Ion Cannon, Nuke Strike) on beacon pedestal
The vehicles and structures are all taken directly from the original C&C, and every one behaves in the same manner as those from the first game as well. The base management functions are all taken care of so you and your teammates can focus on strategies and tactics; so Harvesters will gather Tiberium and deliver it to Refineries which fuel the Power Plants that supply power to Vehicle Factories, Barracks, base defenses, etc.

At a minimum, your base will contain the following buildings: a refinery, a weapons factory (or Nod Airstrip) and a barracks (or Hand of Nod). Other maps will include additional economy structures, like the power plant, as well as defensive structures like the Obelisk and turrets (Nod) or the Advanced Guard Tower (GDI). Each building has a Master Control Terminal which, when destroyed, takes out the whole building. Once a building is destroyed, it can't be repaired. The GDI barracks and Hand of Nod each have a beacon "pedestal;" if the enemy can place an Ion Cannon or Nuke Strike Beacon on the pedestal and it detonates, the game is over.

Tunnels also connect each base to a "midfield" of sorts; these are particularly effective if you're making your assault on foot.

Since this works like the RTS game, your base's health is critical to your ability to access more powerful characters and vehicles. If the refinery goes down, the cost of buying a vehicle or buying into another character class goes up. If you lose your power plant, your base defenses go offline.
